City Break; Berlin

| On
Saturday, October 04, 2014

3 of my closest friends and I planned a small holiday to the city of Berlin. Having been to a more country and rural part of Germany in the past, the capital was a huge change. The hustle and bustle of a touristic city was all there, but there was something quite cultured about Berlin. Visiting the Holocaust Memorial Site and the Berlin Wall were my highlights of the trip. The graffiti work on the Berlin Wall's East Side Gallery is a must see, powerful imagery painted by obviously passionate people; I have been to many galleries in the past, but this is something else. Although, the art galleries on Museum Island are a good visit.

We stayed in a very cheap, but modern hotel/hostel that provided us with breakfast. Although the rooms were not to big, we got our monies worth and it was a good nights sleep if you do not take into account the loud building works outside our window. Overall, minus the mishaps that occurred, visiting Berlin was a lovely experience and who better to go with than 3 of my favorite people.

Summer Beauty Essentials 2014

Here are 11 products I have been loving this summer and using endlessly!

Essie Lollipop- Nail polish in a fab lollipop red!

Garnier Ultimate Blends The Marvellous Transformer- This shampoo contains the highly acclaimed Argon oil and Camellia oil. My hair is quite wavy/curly and has the tendency to frizz, but this shampoo leaves it soft, shiny and smelling lovely.

Toni and Guy Sea Salt Spray- Spray over damp hair and it gives texture and tousled waves that look like you've been on the beach all day and night!

Batiste Dry Shampoo (travel size)- No need to explain this one, dry shampoo is a saviour for all. These travel sized bottles are brill for on the move- a must for my daily handbag.

Avene Thermal Spring Water- Great for a quick refreshing boost in summer; just spritz all over your face. Also perfect soother for burns, heat rash and irritated skin. Used this baby on holiday so much; great for hot sweaty weather.

Revlon Lip Butter Candy Apple- Lip balm and lipstick put together..incredibly moisturising. You can build up the colour to be as bold or as faint. Fab for day and night! Plus, red is one that suits almost every skin tone.

Vaseline- no need to explain.

Boots Extracts Vanilla Body Spray- in this weather, strong perfumes are too much for me..I'm all for body sprays and mists. I used to use Boots Natural Collection Vanilla Body Spray, but they discontinued the collection last year which was a complete disappointment. However, they then released this. It's light, refreshing and has a lovely sweet vanilla scent. Great alternative to perfume and I've used it most days this summer! (AND IT'S FAIR TRADE!)

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water- Must have high-street cleansing water, very cheap and works like a gem. I use it every morning/night after using a face wash and it takes off any traces of make up as well as dirt that has built up as well as leaving my skin feeling refreshingly clean. In summer I tend to cut down on the foundation and heavier make up and head straight for the eye liner and mascara (Maybelline Rocket Volume Waterproof). This cleansing water effortlessly removes all eye make up - yes! even water proof mascara!

Forget your typical girls clubbing holiday, renting a villa on the Canary Islands with 11 of my closest friends (lads and ladies) was the greatest idea for our college farewell. We were located in a place called Guime with the beach at Puerto Del Carmen only a 15 minute drive away.  The Villa itself was my highlight of the holiday; we spent quite a few days relaxing there and it was just a lovely place to be, though the boat party was another highlight. Overall, so many memories were made, there were some crazy nights and even though after summer all of us will be off doing our own thing (university, working), I'm almost certain that we will all still keep in touch. Here are just a few photos..

(Devil Wears Prada reference ;))

For curvy girls, as we all know, skater/flare dresses are such a flattering staple. Last year, all I ever wore was day dresses but over the past months, my confidence has been all over the place and all my day dresses were thrown to the back of my wardrobe. More recently, eating healthier and the sun has lifted my mood and so the dresses have returned; hurrah!

This pretty little dress was found in my local charity shop last year- originally from New Look but I got it for £3!!
Shoes, bag- Primark
Blazer- Forever 21
Bowler hat- Topshop
(According to my friends, in this photo, I am doing my 'worried smile' sorry)

YO! Sushi

A friend of mine recently got taken on date to a sushi-making class and so sushi's been the talk of the moment for me; I couldn't stand it until earlier this year when I found out how delicious it actually is and going to a sushi bar (with a conveyer belt and all!!!) was next up on the list of dining places to visit. We passed YO! sushi and went on in. Quick, more filling than you'd think, healthy plus a fun way to eat your lunch. You also get to watch the sushi chef make the sushi which is actually pretty fascinating. The food was not as great as I'd hoped it to be; the sushi bought at my local Tesco tastes the same. But, if you're wanting to try out a new dining experience, a Sushi bar (like YO!Sushi), I would totally recommend it.

the dishes were priced according to colour of the bowl- pretty reasonable prices
Also, felt rude taking photos so tried to do snap them quite subtly.

Both ordered katsu curry and assorted maki but you can also just help yourself to whatever appeals to you on the conveyor belt

Tourist in London

A few of my friends were going to a gig in the night (a gig which I couldn't get tickets for) but we decided to make a day of it. London is one of my all time favourite cities and living only 30 mins away from the centre is a complete bonus! A lot of us have exams approaching and we needed a break-spending time with our friends is the perfect way. The sun came out to play and we had such a brilliant day - ha that rhymed.
